TERMINAL 3 Is now available
October 2, 2020
Mobius Books is honored and extremely proud to present the third project released under our label: TERMINAL 3, by Illimani Ferreira.
First, we want to say that we are very happy to see the majority of you doing well, despite the horribleness. Quoth The Dickens: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope…” Charles Dickens wrote that a hundred and sixty years ago. It’s crazy to think about how cyclical our cultures are. We see those words, and we can’t help but think about how the weird and horribly disorienting world we’re living in right now isn’t anything new. It’s new to a lot of us, certainly, but not new to history. It’s not the first time humans have had to deal with what we’re currently going through, and it certainly isn’t going to be the last. But we still believe that no matter what happens in the coming months or years, as bad as it could possibly get, we’ll find a way through it – like we’ve always found a way through every obstacle we have ever faced – by sticking together. We’ll be okay if we keep the fire burning. Everything will be okay. Even if it hurts, even if we lose some of our ranks, in the end we’ll be okay. It has been eight months since we closed our lives due to the global covid pandemic. Incredibly difficult days… Mobius Books began the new decade excited about the future of our projects; and we remain committed to them despite the challenges we’ve faced. None of us could have planned for a global crisis of this magnitude, and yet we have thoughtfully adapted ourselves and our resources to get the job done and produce some of the coolest books we’ve ever had the privilege to read. This work required perseverance, patience, passion and commitment from some of the most talented and inspiring people we've ever been fortunate enough to work with: Illimani Ferreira, Callum McSorley, Shane Montgomery, Kimmy Dee, Chris Enterline, Erik Wilson, Don Noble and Heather Bennett. It has tested me—it has tested us all. In late February, the entire team rallied around a comprehensive strategy: keep the art and the fiction flowing, keep everyone paid and working, keep editing and proofing, keep creating, get our blurbs, get our interviews/podcasts/reviews, secure as many promotional options online as we can, and most importantly stay safe. In the days and weeks that followed, a quieter, socially distant, more isolated and masked-up new normal dawned in. And the Mobius team and our freelance support continued to evolve our strategy and each person involved rose to the occasion time and time again. Our commitment to getting these books onto the shelf and into your hands didn’t waver. Projects delayed, stalled, pushed back, revised, re-evaluated, shifted – definitely – but commitment never wavered. And we are still as excited now as we were before the world got this complicated. As Fall arrives in the US, we are extremely happy – and proud and excited – to announce that our newest novel TERMINAL 3, by Illimani Ferreira is available for purchase in both print and ebook. Illimani is a beastly talent, and what he’s written for you is… quite something. Terminal 3 is this really weird, really quirky novel that reads like binging a new Netflix series or something. The episodic adventures of an ensemble cast of ragtag and emotionally dejected blue collar employees at a rundown spaceport terminal are so funny, and at the core are these beautifully subversive themes of family, friendship, love and hope that hug your heart and never let go. It’s nuts, it’s time travel, it’s social commentary about xenophobia and immigration, and it’s the prefect introduction to a perfect writer who’s carrying the Douglas Adams/Terry Pratchett torch with confidence and vision while at the same time forging his own path – and hopefully kicking off a new series that we can all enjoy for years to come. And, so today, we remain optimistic that the future is bright. But we also know that the road is long; and there are many obstacles in our way. So, dear readers, keep doing your best – your best is good enough – stick together, and come read this book with us. We think you’re going to like it. --Mobius Books Editorial Team |
